Telltale Signs

Goats in Italy freak out before volcanic eruptions. Elephants in Sumatra run from the coast before a Tsunami hits. What is the “sign” when Joe Rogan, PewDiePie, and others look for alternative platforms to publish, stream, and monetize content? There is only one Youtube and one Google (both owned by Alphabet). Are they too big to fail? Remember Myspace, AOL, Yahoo, and Netscape?

Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google, and some other tech companies seem to have decided that they are now the keepers of what is true, good, fair, and “not evil”. The self-appointed censors of the 21st century. While it is their right to decide what media is hosted and “monetized” (or not) on their platforms, censorship is supposed to be un-American and protected by the First Amendment in The Constitution of the United States.

When extremists, terrorists, and perverts post recruitment videos and illegal activities, it should be taken down, reported, and the police should handle it –But beware of companies that want to (in-secrecy via “creative algorithms”) control information akin to the oppressive regimes of China, Russia, and North Korea. History illustrates what a slippery slope this can be. It may soon be a test of freedom. So far, in America, it is still our right to choose and decide where we go and how we get information. But as companies look to consolidate and monopolize, these freedoms and options may become rarer. Remember, big tech companies have been collecting our data for years now and will continue to do so.

With that said 🙂 Looking forward to seeing Joe Rogan who will now be keeping it real on Spotify.
